Bill is currently Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust (NRRIT), managing over $30 billion of defined benefit assets for U.S. railroad system employees. Prior to his current role, Bill developed investment policy and directed investment activities for the employee pension, life, health, savings and affiliate plans sponsored by Verizon Communications Corporation. In addition to his responsibilities at NRRIT, Bill serves as an investment committee member for the F.M. Kirby Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to providing grants to a wide range of nonprofit organizations in education, health and medicine, and the arts and humanities.
Bill has more than 25 years of capital markets experience, both on the investment side and as an issuer of debt and equity securities. Prior to joining the former GTE, he also served as vice president and treasurer of Cadbury Schweppes, Inc. and as senior vice president and treasurer of Young & Rubicam, Inc. Bill holds an MBA in International Business from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in International Affairs from Lafayette College, where he has served as trustee. He serves on a number of investment advisory boards and as a director of Endurance Specialty Holdings, a NYSE-listed, Bermuda-based property and casualty reinsurance company.
