Data is no longer just a byproduct of business; it is a strategic asset.  We're seeking a Data Office Director to lead and execute our enterprise data strategy, helping shape the future of data, analytics, governance, and AI across Brandes Investment Partners. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader who thrives at the intersection of business strategy, data governance, analytics, and emerging technologies.

This role is positioned in La Jolla, California and reports into the Global Head of Operations and Technology.  In accordance with California Pay Transparency requirements, the expected annual compensation range for this role is $200k-$250k with opportunity for additional discretionary compensation.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development of a modern data architecture and operating model
  • Establish enterprise-wide data governance, stewardship, and quality frameworks
  • Drive self-service analytics and data literacy across the organization
  • Enable AI readiness and Microsoft Copilot adoption
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to unlock the value of trusted data
  • Define the roadmap for platforms including Snowflake, semantic models, and advanced analytics

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have experience with: 

  • Data governance and operating model design
  • Modern cloud data platforms and analytics ecosystems
  • Snowflake, Power BI, Azure, dbt, Airflow, and related technologies
  • AI governance, data literacy, and analytics adoption programs
  • Building influence across business and technology functions 

Certifications/Familiarity:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • DAMA CDMP (Data Management Professional)
  • dbt certification
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer (emerging)
  • Snowflake SnowPro (Core or Advanced) 
  • AI query layers
  • Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Fabric / Synapse
  • Snowflake Cortex

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience for a CDO-level role; 5+ years for a Data & Analytics Manager-level role.
  • Experience in asset management, financial services, or another highly regulated environment strongly preferred.
