Meet Brandes Mentors

Brandes RISE Mentorship Program Mentors

Here are the mentors that participate in the Brandes RISE Mentorship Program. We’ve provided synopses of their professional background and Q&A to amplify the experience and motivation they will bring to program participants.

Scott Thompson, CFA

  • Director – Product Specialist

Scott Thompson supports the firm’s client service and business development efforts through close coordination with the firm’s investment committees. He is primarily focused on providing insights into the firm’s portfolio strategies and investment philosophy. Mr. Thompson is a limited partner of the firm’s parent company.

Previously, he was an Equity Research Associate with Brandes. Mr. Thompson earned his MBA with honors and distinction, specializing in international finance, from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and his BS (magna cum laude) in business administration from Pepperdine University. He is a member of the CFA Society of San Diego. His relevant experience began in 2007, when he joined Brandes Investment Partners.

Q: Why do you think mentorship is important?
A: Sir Isaac Newton, the famous English scientist, once said, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”  Mentorship provides that opportunity to learn from those that have gone before, growing from past experiences, knowledge gained, and invaluable insights.  I have benefitted greatly from those that have mentored me, and I would not be where I am today without their wisdom and guidance.
